Halloween Party 2006

Last night we had a halloween party and even though a select few only ended up coming it was still hell of a night!!! We had drinks, lot's of food, and raised the dead.

We told ghost stories for a good laugh, one involving disappearing ice cubes from your drinks (that really freaked me out...lol). We played a few halloween party games that included 'wrap the mummy (good laugh after a few drinks, Mandy and Perry's team won the game, while I was sported the title as worst Mummy wrapper all night) .

We played Halloween trivia later on the night (which was halloween lore and halloween movie trivia made up by myself), which we had to do a tie breaker between Perry (spongebob) and Rob (Mr. Death) to see who would win the grand prize giveaway during the spooktacular night of events (the witch Pinata), and the Winner was Perry. After we just relaxed, had a few drinks and popped on a Horror Flick and chatted. All in all it was a frightfully fun night!!! Now let's Monster Mash!!! As well I named the best costume of the night, and the award went to Dave as 'Wolf, BIG BAD'.

Here are a few pics of the festivities.

GBTv01 Toy review: Hot Toys Rambo

Well folks, I finally decided to start a blog on movie figure reviews. The reviews will be figures from my very own collection…so if you are a collector…please be jealous…lol. As well, my collection are displayed in certain poses and for the sake of not loosening or breaking any joints the pictures of the figure for the review will not be in a different stances (mind you the pose shows the figure in full form and is from a scene in their appropriate movie). The ratings will be given out of five stars and a total overall at the end.

The first figure that I am going to review is ‘Rambo’ from ‘Rambo: First Blood Part II’ developed by hot toys in Hong Kong. This company is one of the best at creating realistic 1/6th scale figures and is quickly becoming my fav figure developer. They have gotten a few licensees for development of some amazing franchises and have called the series ‘movie masterpiece series’, within this series is the likes of ‘Robocop’, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘Superman Returns’, ‘Terminator’, ‘Aliens’, ‘Predator’ and many more to come.

Packaging: *****

The packaging is amazing in itself, but who wants to see a pic of a box…F that. The reason I collect is to display these figures in all their glory, not to let it unjustifiably be displayed in a plastic/cardboard tomb. The main thing for me is that the box is very sturdy with the figure vacuum sealed in the tray (no twisty wires…excellent!!)…which means that it will not break in transit to you, as well if you want to look at the figure to check for imperfections it has a window flap and you can see the figure and all accessories displayed out for you before you buy.

Sculpt: *****

This is Rambo…enough said. The sculpting itself is amazing; every detail is caught brining us the best Rambo figure period. The head sculpt is Sly Stallone in everyway, he even has that look that Stallone always has on his face ‘Hey Yo!!!’. The headband is even cloth around is head, how is that for detail.

The body is a thing of beauty. Stallone was in the best shape of his life in this movie and the muscle suit captures his dedication for his physique perfectly. The scarring of the body is another nice touch and is sculpted on and not painted.

The hands have lots of detail like veins and the left hand is interchangeable with a bendy one or a molded one to hold another item, I have the bendy one on to hold the arrow in the pose I have him in. The boots are amazing with laces and nicks and scratches put on them.

The accessories are fantastic, his trademark bow is simply breath taking, and it even has a string and actually has the mechanics for it to work!!! The gun is awesome as well but I think that if you are a fan of this character then you have to display him with the bow. The clip comes out of the gun and even has bullets sculpted in the clip; the gun even has a fabric shoulder strap. Another trademark item is his boa knife which is caught in every detail with the serrated edges and the wrist loop at the top of the handle.

Paint: *****

The paint is flawless, no slop or bleed anywhere; he has 5 O’clock shadow on his face, as well as eye lashes painted on. His eyes are painted dead on (no crossed eyes here). The paint on the scars and his lips are just the right color and is not that bright or dark. His shoes are given a wash to bring out details and as well with mud and dirt on them. The weapons (accessories) are painted with little scraps of wear and tear and the gun is painted to near perfection with the wood handle and the bullets painted in the clip.

Articulation: ****

This is where he looses one star, now I am not one for big articulation but there figures come in no pose at all (they are in arms by their side and legs together stand pose) so you do want to be able to pose him for display. There is 13 points of articulation and they are ball jointed (neck, shoulders {2}, Elbows {2}, Wrists {2}, Hips {2}, Knees {2}, Ankles {2}.) The area where he looses some mobility for these joints is his arms and shoulders. Because the muscle suit is over the articulated body and is made out of a type of rubber you loose some flexibility of the movement and the degree you can move and bend these joints, The pose I have him in took me about 30 mins to setup and carefully so I would not tear the body. But you can still pose him in some cool poses but just be careful when moving his arms so that you do not rip the body or even pop a joint out of its socket. The joints are all good and stiff but not so much as it is a chore to move them and it helps for the arms so the muscle suit does not force the joint back to its original position.

Outfit: *****

WOW….the outfit is 1/6th scale perfection. They are not too baggy or too stiff. The material is perfect for military garb and does not restrict any leg movement at all. The headband is made from cloth as mentioned earlier and it is aged with dirt and is frayed along the edges. The strap for the gun looks perfect as does the faux leather carrying case for his arrows which they hold perfectly. The Knife sheath…holds the knife securely and is actually made from leather, looks in perfect scale to the character as well.

Accessories: *****

Let’s see…he comes with a boa knife, his trademark bow and 4 arrows, his machine gun, a watch (tracker), his good luck charm necklace, his arrow shoulder bag and a cool display stand (with the movie logo and his name plaque) which works perfect in displaying him. (Now, mind you he stands pretty good on his own but this adds a nice touch to it as well as keeping safe from falling and breaking.)

Overall: *****

I got this figure off eBay for 35 dollars, very (very) lucky; now this figure is an expensive one and can now run you up to 200 dollars (original price was 75) because he is not being produced anymore for it was a limited production run and part of their movie masterpiece series. Even if you pay no more then 150 for him now I would still give him five stars overall just for the sheer amazing job they did on this figure. He is definitely one of the best in my collection.

hmmm...what am I going to be for halloween?

I know Halloween is still a couple of months away but I fianlly got my costume idea for the freakiest night of the year. I am going to go as one of my fav horror movie characters of all time, Michael Myers from 'Halloween'.

I just got a mask from eBay made by 'Cinema Secrets' which has awesome authentic movie memorabilia gear. The mask is from one of my fav guilty pleasures entry in the H series...being Halloween: Resurrection. The mask is totally wicked as hell and even freaked me out when I do the myers breathing with it on.

Here it is with full light and a darker enviro shot. As well a little something at the end.

Also let me know what you guys are going to be for Halloween!!!
